AhlulBayt News Agency: The Iranian Embassy in Baku has said the Islamic Republic of Iran, while recognizing the people’s right to peaceful protest, is fully committed to protecting the rights and freedoms of its citizens.
In a statement on Sunday, the Iranian Embassy in Baku referred to the recent riots in the country, adding that the Islamic Republic of Iran is fully committed to protecting the rights and freedoms of its citizens, especially during peaceful protests, preserving the lives and property of the people, public property, and national order.
The statement added that undoubtedly, the most decisive actions will be taken against rioters and terrorist elements in accordance with national laws and international commitments.
The unrest gripped a number of Iranian cities earlier this month, after foreign-backed elements and terrorists hijacked economic protests and mixed in with the ordinary citizens to kill civilians and security forces, as well as to destroy public property.
Evidence on the ground and anti-Iran rhetoric by US and Israeli leaders indicate a joint plot under the pretext of economic discontent, bringing trained mercenaries into Iran to create unrest and rioting.
The Iranian people staged nationwide rallies to protest against the riots and acts of terrorism.
